Join The Board
The Rehoboth Beach Bears are a social nonprofit built on camaraderie and inclusivity, and our board is the group of volunteers who make that happen. We’re looking for people who share that mission and want to help guide where the Bears go next.
What board members do
Board members help plan and produce our events throughout the year, including the annual Rehoboth Beach Bear Weekend each September. That includes:
- Setting the vision, theme, and budget for our events
- Recruiting and supporting volunteers
- Building relationships with sponsors, venues, and local businesses
- Promoting our events and welcoming new people into the community
- Supporting the fundraising that benefits local nonprofits and our scholarship fund for members of local high school Gay-Straight Alliances
- Helping Rehoboth Beach Bears, Inc. meet its responsibilities as a 501(c)(3)
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to have served on a board before. We want people who are dependable, collaborative, and ready to roll up their sleeves. Experience in event planning, marketing, finance, fundraising, or nonprofit work is a plus, but enthusiasm and follow-through matter most.
What to expect
Board members attend and help run the events the board commits to throughout the year. Plan on about 5 to 10 hours a month for meetings and events, though that varies with the season. Bear Weekend takes all hands on deck for the entire event.
How to apply
Complete our Board of Directors application. It asks about your background, skills, and affiliations, why you want to serve, what you’d like to bring to the Bears, and any potential conflicts of interest. It also asks you to confirm you can meet the time commitment above.
